Adelaide Scuba, in partnership with Invictus Australia, are proud to launch an initiative to allow veterans and their families affordable access to the world of scuba diving with training, certification and access to the amazing dive sites that the waters of South Australia have to offer.
Our veterans once signed a contract that in essence was a cheque for the amount up to, and potentially including, their lives for the service and protection of their country and its people. Their families supported and continue to support them in their endeavours, and often have arguably the most difficult role of waiting for their loved one to return, and then dealing with that reunion and the challenges it can often bring. In particular, the children of service people who deal with the separation during important and meaningful times of their lives whilst their loved ones are away on exercise or deployed. Adapting to constant change and the anticipation of their loved ones return, sometimes altered irreversibly through their experiences, can be challenging for many families. Scuba diving has been proven to be an amazing activity for healing, both physically and psychologically, and is also a wonderful way to socialise with like minded people and create new bonds, whatever age you might be!
These are some of the many reasons we at Adelaide Scuba are excited to be involved in this initiative, to assist veterans and their families and enable them to overcome some of the physical and emotional challenges they may have faced due to a life of service.
