Our range of snorkel training programs are designed to suit your individual requirements with short or extended classes available. Our ‘Snorkelling Skills Workshop’ (Class 2) is one of our most popular classes and has helped many new snorkelers in preparation for their upcoming Cruise to an exciting tropical island getaway.
 
Snorkelling Class options: 

Class 1: Basic In Water / Snorkel Confidence $50pp

Designed to give the inexperienced snorkeler an opportunity to be guided in proper equipment selection, fit and basic techniques of safe and responsible snorkeling. The class is ideal for people who are looking for a short snorkeling introduction before going away on holiday, in preparation for the summer season and/or simply wanting to give snorkeling a go.
 
Class Duration: 2 hours
 
Minimum Age: 8 years
 
Cost: $50 per person*
 
Includes all equipment (if required), professional snorkel guide fee, facility fee, pool dive & certificate of participation.
 
EQUIPMENT NOTE: Adelaide Scuba highly recommends every snorkeling participant to invest in their own mask, snorkel and fins (AKA flippers) for hygiene reasons and proper fit promoting a more comfortable snorkeling experience.

Class 2: Snorkelling Skills Workshop $75.00

Designed to give the novice snorkeler an opportunity to be guided in proper equipment selection, fit and general techniques of safe and responsible snorkeling including comfortable surface swimming, snorkel clearing, duck dive (head first diving) and basic breath hold swimming. The class is ideal for people who are looking for a general introduction and overview of snorkelling techniques whilst gaining professional instruction and guidance ensuring a more enjoyable snorkel experience.

Class Duration: 2 hours

Minimum Age: 8 years

Cost: $75 per person*

Includes all equipment (if required), professional snorkel guide fee, facility fee, pool dive & certificate of participation.

Class 3: Local Marine Life / Eco Tours

Are you a snorkeler and looking for something exciting to do on your day of, maybe on your own or with some friends, this is a great weekend activity for you, the family and all of your friends. Come and join our professional team of snorkeling guides for a fun day out on the water. During the ‘Adelaide Scuba Local Marine Life / Eco Tour’ you will have the opportunity to learn about our coastal marine environment and the creatures that call it home. You will be guided through one of South Australia’s premier reef systems exploring and observing our local marine life. The tour will begin with a short land based presentation on the chosen dive site for the day with a discussion on general techniques in safe and responsible snorkeling, followed by a fully guided reef snorkel tour. This tour is designed for the novice snorkeler with previous snorkeling experience, ideal to follow on from the ‘Adelaide Scuba Snorkeling Skills Workshop’.
 
Class Duration: 4 hours
 
Minimum Age: 8 years
 
Cost: $99 per person*
 
Includes all equipment (if required), professional snorkel guide fee, facility fee, reef snorkel dive & certificate of participation.

South Australia’s Snorkelling Hot Spots

  • Chinaman’s Hat on the Yorke Peninsula (Southern Spencer Gulf Marine Park) – see eagle rays and southern rock lobsters.
  • Port Noarlunga and Aldinga Reef (Encounter Marine Park) – excellent sites for beginners where you can see schools of old wives, silver drummers, orange biscuit stars and large kelp fronds waving in the swell.
  • Antechamber Bay, Kangaroo Island (Encounter Marine Park) – you’ll need a boat but there are terrific reefs dropping into deeper waters where you can see harlequin fish and blue throat wrasse.
  • Harvey’s Return, Kangaroo Island (Western Kangaroo Island Marine Park) – after a steep climb down the hill you could be rewarded with a blue groper sighting.
  • Second Valley and Rapid Bay Jetty (Encounter Marine Park) – see leafy sea dragons and southern calamari.
  • Point Lowly, Whyalla (Upper Spencer Gulf Marine Park) – see giant cuttlefish spawning from May to August.
  • Baird Bay (West Coast Bays Marine Park) – swim with Australian sea lions and dolphins.
  • Smooth Pool, south west of Streaky Bay on the west coast of Eyre Peninsula (West Coast Bays Marine Park) – snorkel intertidal granite rock pools and marvel at fish, crabs, algae, snails and starfish. The locals say there is a friendly resident blue groper who likes to say hello.
